PRAYER NIGHT MOVING TO A BI-WEEKLY FORMAT

INTERESTED IN A SEMINAR ABOUT “KEEPING SANE IN AN AGE OF COVID-19?’
One definition of crazy is ‘to do the same thing over and over again and to think you will have a different result’ and I think all of us have been in those kinds of ruts in our lives, and especially you may be feeling a little crazy in this way in the midst of the new reality we are living in. So in this seminar we would discuss new practices, grounded in scripture, that can help us become more resilient in our faith and life. I am right now assessing whether there is enough interest in this kind of seminar to offer it. If you are interested in this seminar, or another, please indicate your interest by taking a second to answer this POLL. Thanks!

CHAT MODERATORS AND SCRIPTURE READERS FOR REMOTE WORSHIP.
As we continue worshipping remotely we would appreciate more volunteer scripture readers and Youtube chat moderators. The positions are very well defined and easy to learn, yet important for worship to go smoothly. All we need is you! If you are interested please email Beverly Chang, worship deacon here.
WORSHIP THIS WEEK
As always, join us for worship at 12:10p on Sunday on our YouTube channel.
Also, after church we will be having fellowship time in in ‘the lobby’ (a zoom chat room) so please come after the service and say hello. Find the Zoom link on the live chat on youtube and our Facebook page.
OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS OF NOTE….
An Easy Way to Serve Our Community: TAKE THE CENSUS
The US census is upon us, and even though it is a government program, it is also a way for us as Christians to serve our neighborhood. The census partly determines how much funding goes into a community for schools, hospitals, roads, parks, and other social services, and if everyone is not counted then the extra funding is not given. During the last census Queens was undercounted, resulting in a lack of funding for community services. So, I encourage to take the census and encourage others to take it as well. If you have questions, contact Dexter Yee (a friend of Gordon Chang) at dexter.census2020@commonpointqueens.org
WELCOME SIMONE LOUIE AS OUR NEW YOUTH AND COLLEGE DIRECTOR!
After almost a year long search the leadership team and search committee is excited to announce that Simone Louie will be stepping into this position starting in June! Simone has been involved in our church since graduating from Geneseo College and moving to New York City over two years ago. Since then she has been involved as a leader of the youth and college group, a worship leader, and small group leader. She brings prior leadership experience in youth, college ministries, and other church ministries, and she also completed the Redeemer City to City Apprenticeship for young leaders last year. We are excited for her to start officially on June 1!
JOY CAMP ANNOUNCEMENT
It is with heavy hearts that the English leadership and the Joycamp directors, Danielle Mendoza and Julian De La Rosa, need to announce the cancellation of Joycamp for this summer. We were hoping that the threat of the pandemic would ease enough by late spring to still have Joycamp in some form, but the current threat level remains high and having large gatherings seems unlikely into the summer. We mourn as you do the loss of this beloved program in the community this year but we trust that this is the wisest decision that we can make at this time. Please continue for the joy camp leaders and directors and all the leaders and volunteers that were planning on being involved. Also, pray for the students of Elmhurst. We are looking forward to Joycamp coming back in 2021!
