Announcements

  1. Immediately after service today, there will be an English congregation prayer meeting in the sanctuary.  All are welcome to participate. Come join us in this time of reflection, sharing and praying together.  

  2. Rev up your engines!  There will be a US Grand Prix watch party today, 10/23, after prayer meeting starting at 3 pm in the fellowship hall.  Whether or not you are into Formula 1 racing, come join us to find out what the fuss is all about or just join us for some fellowship and board games.  

  3. We are hosting a Trunk or Treat outreach event next Sunday, Oct. 30 from 3-5pm for our community in Elmhurst. There will be carnival-like games for all young ages. If you would like to sign up to run a booth or provide your trunk, please speak with Grace Hong. 

  4. The following are the Consistory Election Candidates on the ballot for the upcoming consistory election:

    • Elder:  Herbert Zhang (M), Zaiying Huang (M), Nadia Shyr (T)

    • Mandarin Deacons:  Jay Pan, Jacob Zhu

    • Taiwanese Deacons:  Parkson Chen

    • English Deacons:  No candidates

    As per the bylaws, any objections to the above candidates must be submitted in writing to the Elder Board.    

  5. The Consistory Election period begins next Sunday, 10/30, and will continue on two more Sundays, 11/06, and 11/13. If you are NOT available for any of those three Sundays, please let leadership know before or by 10/30 to participate in a mail-in ballot. We will need to verify your active status, names, address for return ballots.

  6. English Winter Retreat 2023 will be held on Jan 14-16 with Pastor Sam Kim as our guest speaker. Our theme this year is “Thriving in the Midst of Waiting”. Retreat costs and details can be found at https://www.newtown.church/retreat. Early Registration ends Nov 27th.

  7. Starting today, 10/23, masks are encouraged but no longer mandatory at Newtown church.  With this in mind, please refrain from attending in-person should you have any symptoms of illness.  Also, please continue to inform the deacons at deacons@newtown.church if you attended Sunday worship service in person.and subsequently test positive for COVID-19.
